Margot Kidder

Best known for her role as Lois Lane in the film Superman: The Movie and its sequels of the 1970s and 1980s. Her new agent hooked her up with a little-known director named Richard Donner. He was going to be directing a film called Superman (1978), she auditioned for and secured the leading female role of Lois Lane. Kidder brought more depth to the role than previous actresses, portraying Lane as an ambitious and headstrong, yet vulnerable and emotionally lonely woman trying to make it in a man’s world. Kidder, one of five children, was born Margaret Ruth Kidder in Yellowknife, NW Territories, Canada. At an early age she became aware of the great emotions she felt towards expressing herself, and caught the acting bug. After graduation Margot moved to Los Angeles to start a film career. In 2000 she released her autobiography, ‘Intimate Portrait: Margot Kidder’.
