Noel Neill

An American actress in motion pictures and television and arguably the most prolific actress in the Superman legacy, she defined the role of Lois Lane in the two Superman serials, “Superman” (1948) and “Adventures of Superman” (1952), had a cameo in “Superman” (1978), guest-starred on “Superboy” (1988) and continuing her involvement in the world of Superman, Noel was cast in the role of Gertrude Vanderworth, in the 2006 film “Superman Returns”. Noel Neill was born on Thanksgiving Day in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to David and LaVere Neill. Right after she finished high school, Noel and her mother drove from Minnesota to CA. Trained as a singer and dancer, she was hired to singing at the Del Mar racetrack. Her big break came when she met Bing Crosby, one of the owners. A popular photographic model while in her teens, Betty Grable’s pin-up was #1 among G.I.s during World War II, but rumor had it that the #2 poster girl was Noel Neill. Now in her mid-80s, Noel enjoys golf and bridge.
